Divorce in Nigeria:why the increase?
As at 2015,Americans have the highest divorce rate of over 50% in the world.sadly, there's no available statistics on the rate of divorce in Nigeria but the court's record show it is on the increase.I mean, who can even dispute that? We all have one or two people we know that are divorced or planning to.The surprising look of files in tribunals can't be overemphasized. You can't help but wonder if the country wants to go on marriage strike..I therefore ask,why divorce?
The truth is, breakups and separation have become so easy.Relationships and marriages hardly work this days..What we have now are just couples cohabiting, growing apart and finally separating..Someone is married today and divorced tomorrow!! And I ask again, why divorce?
As ugly as the country looks now,I don't think we need or want to handle not just citizens who are disappointed as a result of the dilapidating state of Nigeria, but also disappointed couples.we're in a deep shit already, a very deep one!
Divorce is on the increase and this is not good for both you the victims and the country at large..Before you rush out of that union, ask yourselves,Is divorce the best alternative? Will it heal your broken hearts?how about the kids?do you care about the psychological effects this may have on them?
Marriage is a life time business which requires a lot of hard work to make it work.In marriage, there are bound to be conflicts, work on resolving them.A times victims of divorce are where they're because they just want to be heard without giving a little of their time to at least listen.what if you have a little time to spare?what if you listen to him as much as he does to you?what if the perceived is not actually the reality? divorce Probably wouldn't be necessary.
Permit me to reiterate this, divorce is never the best alternative. It has,for the records, caused much harm than good.Lets not forget that children from broken homes have the tendency of becoming nuisance to the society. Is this what we also have to deal with coupled with the big mess we're in already?? HAVE A RETHINK
